Giuseppe Lacava
Good morning everybody, today we’d like to share with you this nice MR case; a case shared with Dr. Federica Tirrito and the Neuroteam from AniCura Istituto Veterinario di Novara.
8 m/o, M, Amstaff, Dog
History of diarrhea and upper respiratory signs
Later, soft tissue swelling of the L tarsal region and L hindlimb lameness, then solved.
Today, painful at the LS palpation
CONCLUSION
A focal change in signal intensity of the L gluteus medius and iliocosalis muscles (at the level of L6, L7) is seen.
The affected muscles are mildly decreased in size if compared to the contro-lateral, heterogenously hyperintense (to the surrounding muscles) on T2/STIR sequences, iso/weakly hypointense on T1-W images, strongly and heterogeneously enhancing on T1 post-contrast sequences.
DIAGNOSIS
L-sided gluteus medius/iliocostalis myositis and presumed osteomyelitis of the iliac crest ossification center (fragmented).
